Return to Flotilla 11-8's Home Page.

Flotilla 8 members are involved in all of the following activities.  For all of these activities, initial member training and on-the-job training is provided to help new members become qualified in these activities.
  • Operational Support – we conduct operations on the Mississippi River to supplement the US Coast Guard in providing safety zones during waterfront events, river patrols to provide recreational boating assistance and environmental monitoring.
  • Public Education – we provide several 8 hour About Boating Safety classes each year in the north metro area. These classes meet the educational requirements for MN and WI youth water craft operator permit.
  • Recreational Vessel Safety Checks – these free, no enforcement safety checks review 15 federally required safety/environmental items and also 8 good practice items to help boaters safely enjoy their boating experience.
  • Public Affairs – We participate with information/education booths regarding boating safety and marine environmental protection at several boating events throughout the year including the St. Paul Sportsman Show, the Minneapolis Boat Show and Red Wing River Days.
